I started working when I was 15 in service industries, often holding multiple jobs at one time. For the past decade I have work in an industrial setting doing all sorts of physical labour, site maintenance and supervision.
My time off work is often spent taking classes or tending to the renovation of my character home in Victoria, British Columbia. I have taken classes in wood working, metal working, machining, drafting, jewelry making, painting, printing, sculpting and bead making.
My goal is to continuously grow and expand my knowledge and skills. My mind is always processing and cataloguing, always sifting through creative problems and seeking a way to bring my visions to reality.
I hope that now, after nearly 54 years on this planet, I can stand proud and bravely present my vision to the world.
I work in all mediums, enjoying the complexity of juxtaposing stark foundations with warm, delicate layers of texture and colour.
I have worked in wood, metal, fabric, and photography. I love sourcing materials that have been discarded as waste material and reinventing them as abstract and interactive sculpture and multi-media artworks.

I have worked in wood, metal, fabric, and photography. I love sourcing materials that have been discarded as waste material and reinventing them as abstract and interactive sculpture and multi-media artworks.
I am not limited in my scope and will make housewares, furniture, jewelry and artwork with the aim of inciting conversation and reflection. I believe that ones home should be a larger reflection of ones emotional and spiritual complexity.
I have worked the past few years at a shipyard which has given me a great appreciation for the durability of metal. I love the shifts in colour and texture as metal ages from the impact of sea salt and elemental exposures.

I look for images that mark the passing of time, and articles that reflect the impact of their environment. I love the way that light dances through industrial spaces and how colour prevails through a grey backdrop of concrete and steel.
I have always gravitated to skeletal images and mystical elements like moonlight, fog and shadows. In all these I see the humanity of spirit that once occupied these faces and places.
My name is Christine McNeill. I am 53 years old and live in Victoria, British Columbia with my dog Moony and my cat Macey. I have always considered myself artistic but have only recently started to identify as an artist and a creator.
It has taken time and bravery to make this shift in thinking. Like so many women on the cusp of retirement I am ready to embrace my true calling. Thanks for sharing in my adventure!
A better question might be, "What don't I do?" I am interested in so many things and love to uncover the artistry in everyday items.
Through collaboration with local craftsman I plan to develop functional artistic furniture and housewares. I am adapting a collection of photographs as part of an industrial series and am exploring how they might inform a multi-media project. I am always scavenging discarded materials and building interactive sculptures for interior and exterior spaces. I also make jewelry that is both masculine and feminine and utterly unique.
I want to provide you with signature pieces to enhance your living space. I want my work to incite conversation and to entice engagement in the work. I want to have a brand that is synonymous with quality, character and style. My aim is to offer something wholly unique and entirely inviting. I want to change the landscape of your living space to be a flow of creative energy that lifts your spirit, like a warm and constant etherial presence.
